Crowds flock to Staindrop's annual carnival

HUNDREDS of people lined the streets of Staindrop to witness another successful carnival.

Dozens of floats and groups filed their way through the village on Saturday afternoon alongside a good turnout of tractors, classic cars and stallholders.

Staindrop Carnival Committee was struggling for numbers last year but villagers stepped into the breach in good numbers for the 2017 edition.

The group started organising the day in January with weekly meetings and committee member Jane MacInnes was thrilled with how it went.

She said: “It’s been absolutely brilliant – we had a fantastic night on Wednesday as part of the carnival build up with 21 acts.
