WATERLOO Yard, in Barnard Castle, has been cordoned off as police continue to investigate an incident which happened overnight between Friday, March 31, and Saturday, April 1. No details of what happened are available, but it is understood the scene, an alley which links Queen Street to Market Place, will remain closed for some time, with officers are stationed at both ends.
A senior officer confirmed an inquiry was ongoing and said there was no threat to the wider public.
