Animal magic at Cotherstone school art workshop

CHILDREN at Cotherstone School have taken their topic of a carnival of animals to a new level through an art workshop.

The workshop was presented by Denise Bainbridge and Gill Chapman of ilearncreative who helped the children discover all sorts of art materials. They used charcoal to create drawings of fossils and then used clay and plaster-of-paris to make their own fossils.

Later they explored lino-printing.

Ms Bainbridge said: “We used lots of inspiration to create. We believe art is therapy and there is no right or wrong way to do it – it is about being creative.

“The children have been so hands on and having a go. The feedback and vibes from the children has been so positive.”

The workshop ended with each child making a piece of a large jigsaw of a carnival of animals which were put together to create one artwork.
