Musicians send summer off in style at The Hub

A MUSICAL extravaganza at The Hub in Barnard Castle gave youngsters a chance to show off their skills.

More than 15 bands and artists performed across 12 hours at the gig, which was organised by Teesdale Community Resources on Saturday, September 23.

The performers featured a wide range of musical styles and included solo singers, duos and groups.

Many of the bands were regulars at the centre, including new groups Feedback and Socks, both of whom are made up from young students of the studio and are coached by teacher Tom Wright.

One of the performances featured children that attended the music summer school at The Hub during the summer holidays. They played their own track, Doors, which they wrote during the week about overcoming bullying, accompanied by music manager Katie Bottomley on piano.

As well as the younger groups some of the more well-known local bands hit the stage, including young group Upset Beat, Los Capitanes and Renegade Jukebox, who had the crowd up and dancing to their classic covers. The night was closed by Bishop Auckland-based alt-rock group Black Nevada, whose lead guitarist George Tait also teaches guitar at the TCR Music Studio.
