A US rock band is set to hit the stage in Teesdale for the first time next month.
Indie rockers Gringo Star will be playing at The Teesdale Hotel, in Middleton-in-Teesdale on Sunday, February 5.
The gig celebrates the release of the band’s fourth album, The Sides and In Between, which comes out in the UK on February 2. It also forms part of their latest tour, which kicked off in their home city of Atlanta, Georgia, on January 21.
Since forming in 2007, the quartet has built up an international following and has toured with rock bands The Black Lips, Wavves, And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead and rock duo Best Coast.
The free-entry gig in Teesdale is being organised by S.A.W Entertainments and Hairy Dog Promotions and will run from 4pm.
Michael Carr, of Newbiggin, has been running Hairy Dog Promotions since the early 1990s when he started out organising gigs in Lancashire.
Having moved to the upper dale three years ago, the former teacher is now hoping to bring more artists to the area.
Mr Carr said: “I love music and I wanted to try and help new bands who are writing their own songs and give them somewhere to play.
“This is a free entry gig as it's a short notice one. Anyone who likes live, guitar based music with well written and crafted songs, played with skill, enthusiasm and passion should take this opportunity to see one of the hardest working touring bands around – they average well over 200 gigs a year. What better way to spend a late Sunday afternoon in winter than watching a great band and having a drink or two.”
