Photos of upper Teesdale help raise cash for Utass

TWELVE snapshots of the upper dale have made the cut in a popular farming calendar.

Utass (Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services) has released its 2018 year planner – whittling down more than 90 entries from its members to just 12 for each month of the year. Featured on the front is a picture taken from Toby Hill Farm Holiday Cottage, near Middleton-in-Teesdale.

A judging panel made up of Emma Spry and Anne Scott, from Utass, alongside volunteers Elizabeth Beech and Gordon Jones helped pick the standouts. But Ms Spry said they hadn’t been easy choices.

She added: “It’s not about them being the most amazing photographs – it’s nice that it’s our members and it fits in with what we do.”

The Utass Christmas card, featuring a photo by John Wearmouth, of Wesley Terrace, in Middleton-in-Teesdale, is also on sale.

The calendars can be bought in Simpson’s Butchers, in Cockfield and Gainford; Carrs Billington, Barnard Castle; Middleton Forge; Barnard Castle Auction Mart; Phillip Holden, Barnard Castle, as well as in the UTASS office.

All proceeds from the calendar and the card with go back into UTASS funds.

If any other businesses would like to sell the calendars and cards on behalf of the charity, call Ms Spry on 01833 641010.
