Cockfield Co-op staff serve up £300 for Teddy's trike appeal

A FUNDRAISING campaign to help a severely disabled Teesdale boy has received a £300 boost thanks to staff at a village store.

Some £2,500 is needed to provide little Teddy Berriman with a specially adapted trike.

The five-year-old suffers from three types of epilepsy, is autistic, incontinent, partially sighted and unable to feed himself.

His mum Nicola Short provides round-the-clock care for him at their home in Burnt Houses.

To help raise money for a trike, Kayleigh Bell, team manager at the Co-op store, in Cockfield, and her colleagues organised a cake bake, raffle and tombola.

The event raised £300 – with a further £5 donated by a shopper who popped in while the cash was being handed over.

The money will be added to the £630 family friend Stacey Hopper raised for Teddy’s trike by completing the Great North Run in September.
