Graham Leggatt-Chidgey, from Rokeby, pleaded not guilty to one charge of fraud and one allegation of theft at Teesside Crown Court this morning (October 18).
A full public gallery saw the 62-year-old deny he had taken £127,714 from the Butterwick between June 20, 2007, and March 13, 2017.
He also denied fraud by making false representations to lease a Jaguar on October 1, 2015, in the name of the charity’s chairman of trustees.
Mr Leggatt-Chidgey left the charity as chief executive in March.
He appeared in a navy blue suit and spoke only to confirm his name and enter pleas at the short hearing.
Judge Tony Briggs set a trial date for May 14, 2018, with the trial earmarked to last five days.
Mr Leggatt-Chidgey was granted unconditional bail.
