It's a nice day for a mock wedding at Woodland Primary School

YOUNGSTERS at Woodland Primary School learnt the true meaning of love during a special wedding ceremony.

Year one pupils Alfie Seymour and Rosanna Tookey said “I do” during a mock service at St Mary’s Church which was led by Revd Alison Wallbank, of Middleton-in-Teesdale.

Reception and year one class teacher Emma Welsby said: “Our teaching assistant, Kathryn Davis, got married at the weekend and we wanted to show the children what a wedding ceremony entailed and what it meant.

“We decided to get the whole school involved. The children made their own invitations, Mrs Davis brought lots of things in from her wedding and the staff have brought their wedding dresses in. The children have loved it.”

A celebratory lunch was part of the wedding reception in the school hall.
