Tractors hit the road in aid of Butterwick Hospice

A CONVOY of tractors took to the roads of Teesdale to raise money for the Butterwick Hospice.
More than 30 vintage tractor enthusiasts took part in the tractor run which was organised by Hamsterley and District Tractor Club on Good Friday.
The 35-mile route began at Hamsterley and District Social Club before leading the army of machinery across the dale passing through Woodland, Eggleston, Romaldkirk and Cotherstone along the way as well as bordering reservoirs including Grassholme and Selset.
Treasurer of the tractor club Joe Dobson said: “We do this every year and each year we choose a different charity to support. We have always been involved with tractors. Nowadays tractor enthusiasts don’t get chance to work them so we go out for a run and we do it for charity.”
Fish and chips were served at the finish line back in Hamsterley courtesy of the Cross Keys.
Butterwick Hospice fundraiser Helen Kirby said: “It is really important to have community groups doing things like this for the hospice. We provide care in Weardale and Teesdale as well as in the Bishop Auckland area so they are raising money for local people to access our services. We are really grateful for the support of the tractor club.”
