Charity founder's thanks to supporters

A CHARITY has thanked supporters with a parting culinary gift.
Chris Read, founder of A Smile For A Child, is in the process of moving to Newton Aycliffe from Teesdale.
More than 30 supporters and friends of the children’s charity descended on Spice Island, in Barnard Castle, for a meal of thanks last Monday (February 27). Mr Read, 51, formed the charity in 2009 after being made redundant from his job at Waitrose.  In the years since, A Smile For A Child has grown to help dozens of disabled and disadvantaged youngsters get mobile and get into sports.
The charity passed the £1million mark before Christmas.
