A TEENAGER who suffered a cardiac arrest in Barnard Castle has been moved out of intensive care.
The 17-year-old fell ill at Glaxo Sports and Social Club gym just after 3pm on Tuesday (January 3).
He was placed in an induced coma and stabilised before being flown by the Great North Air Ambulance Service to James Cook Hospital, in Middlesbrough.
The youngster's condition has improved and a family member says he is conscious and communicating as of this afternoon (January 5).
An off-duty police officer administered CPR and operated a defibrillator before paramedics arrived on the scene.
